One on one support

One on one community participation in Adelaide

Support that goes where you go across Adelaide. Getting to the gym, holding down a volunteer shift, learning a bus route, or being with people who share what you are into.

Who it suits

Built around what you actually want to do

We start with what a good week looks like for you, then work out the support that makes it happen.

  • Getting to the things you already like

The gym, the pool, a footy game, a class or a regular coffee. Support to get there, be there and get home.

  • Holding down a volunteer shift

Turning up on time, learning the tasks, getting to know the team, and keeping it going once the novelty wears off.

  • Learning your way around

Practising a bus route, tapping on, reading a timetable and knowing what to do when the plan changes.

  • Being with people who share what you are into

Finding a group, a club or a community where you are there because you want to be, not because it was scheduled.

A typical week

Regular, familiar and yours

Most members build a rhythm rather than a full diary. Something quiet, something regular, something social.

  1. Step 1

    A quiet start

Two hours on a Tuesday morning, shopping and a coffee, practising the same route each week until it is yours.

  2. Step 2

    Something regular

A Thursday volunteer shift with the same worker, who steps back a little more each month.

  3. Step 3

    Something social

A Saturday out with a group, or a game to watch. Your choice, planned with you rather than for you.

Your support worker

Someone who knows you, not a roster filler

  • A small, consistent team, matched to what you are into as well as what you need.
  • Screened, trained and supported by a team you can reach when something changes.
  • Led by one person in Adelaide whose job is to know you best, so nothing has to be explained twice.
  • If the match is not right, you say so and we change it.

How it is funded

Through core supports in your plan

One on one community participation is usually funded from the core supports in your NDIS plan, under assistance with social and community participation.

We cannot decide or promise funding. What we can do is read your plan with you, explain what it covers, and be clear about anything it does not, before support starts.

Honest limits

What we will not do

  • We are not just a transport service. Support is about the whole outing, not just the lift.
  • We do not book you into activities to fill hours. If a plan is not working for you, we change it.
  • We cannot decide or increase your funding. We can help you understand what your plan covers and what to ask for at your review.
  • We work across Adelaide. If we cannot cover your suburb we will tell you straight away.
