Another way to live with SIL

Shared homes

A house shared with a small number of housemates, your own bedroom, and support delivered to your own NDIS plan.

What a shared home is

Some people would rather live with housemates than on their own. A shared home, sometimes called a group home, is a normal house in a normal street with support on site.

  • Your own bedroom

Your own room that you set up your way, in a house you share with a small number of housemates.

  • Shared living spaces

A kitchen, living room and outdoor space you share, so company is close by when you want it.

  • Support to your own plan

Support is delivered to each member's own NDIS plan and Roster of Care, the same as in a village.

Funding

How each shared home is funded

Two shared homes, funded differently. We say which is which up front so a referral is never sent to the wrong door.

  • Noraville, Central Coast, New South Wales

Supported Independent Living (SIL) and SDA High Physical Support

Two purpose built homes side by side on Main Road, with three member bedrooms in one and four in the other. Both are built for high physical support needs, with shared living spaces and gardens.

  • Para Vista, Adelaide, South Australia

    Supported Independent Living (SIL)

A three bedroom home with two bathrooms and shared living spaces, close to shops and transport.

A shared home or a village apartment?

It comes down to how someone likes to live. Both are supported, and neither is a lesser option.

A shared home

Housemates, shared living spaces and company close by. Good for someone who would rather not live on their own.

A village apartment

A self contained home with your own front door, and neighbours who chose the same thing.
